The hotelier has been honoured for his life’s work
The Warsteiner Group has honoured the Baiersbronn hotelier Hermann Bareiss with its Lifetime Award for his lifetime achievements. With great vision and enormous commitment, he has turned the modest Kurhotel Mitteltal (founded by his mother in 1951) into one of Europe’s most popular holiday hotels. “As a host and as a person he has set lasting standards in the hospitality sector,” according to the jury making the award, and he will receive the prize from Catharina Cramer, Managing Partner of the Group and Patron of the Prize, in Berlin on 22 February 2016.
The prize was not only awarded to honour the successful development of the hotel, which has received numerous awards including the Best Resort in Europe. It also pays tribute to the enormously effective commitment of Hermann Bareiss throughout Germany in his work for sector training and his founding of the support association FHG, it honours his dedication to the holiday destination of the Black Forest, and his far-sightedness regarding the economic importance of tourism for the state and the region.
Commenting on the Warsteiner Lifetime Award, Hermann Bareiss (who has already been awarded Germany’s Order of Merit and France’s Légion d’Honneur) said, “This is a great award. I am immensely pleased with it. But it is not just for me, but for everyone who has played a part in this life’s work. All the employees that have ever worked at the Bareiss. The guests, for whom we do everything and give our best. And it is, above all, for my family, without whose understanding, patience and involvement there would be no life’s work. They are all part of my life, they have all participated in this life’s work, and I am eternally grateful to them all.”
Previous winners of the Lifetime Award, which honours personalities who “exhibit extraordinary commitment and are role models due to their excellent life achievements”, include Eckart Witzigmann, Karl-Heinz Stockheim, Eugen Block and Carmen Würth.
